Amazon has submitted plans for a large-format store near Chicago that would be larger than a Walmart Supercenter. The store, which is expected to be a major retail destination, would be located in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois.

According to the plans submitted to the village of Schaumburg, the store would be approximately 2.2 million square feet in size, making it one of the largest retail stores in the United States. The store would feature a wide range of products, including electronics, clothing, home goods, and more.

The store would also include a number of amenities, such as a restaurant, a coffee shop, and a children's play area. The store would be open seven days a week, and would employ hundreds of people.

The plans for the store were submitted to the village of Schaumburg on January 9, 2026, and are currently under review. If approved, the store could open as early as 2027.

Amazon has been expanding its retail presence in recent years, and this new store would be one of the largest in the company's portfolio. The store would be a major destination for shoppers in the Chicago area, and would provide a significant boost to the local economy.
