Ex-Assassin's Creed Boss Sues Ubisoft For Nearly $1 Million Over Alleged Forced Firing

Marc-Alexis Côté, a former Ubisoft executive, has filed a lawsuit against the company for allegedly forcing him out of his position as the head of Assassin's Creed. Côté claims that he was terminated without cause and is seeking nearly $1 million in damages.

According to the lawsuit, Côté was the head of Assassin's Creed from 2013 to 2017 and was responsible for overseeing the development of several successful games in the series. However, in 2017, Ubisoft allegedly forced him out of his position, citing a 'restructuring' of the company's leadership.

Côté claims that he was not given a chance to defend himself or appeal the decision, and that he was instead forced to leave the company without any severance package. He is seeking damages for wrongful termination, breach of contract, and emotional distress.

The lawsuit also alleges that Ubisoft's actions were motivated by a desire to 'scapegoat' Côté for the company's financial struggles at the time.

Côté's lawsuit is just the latest in a string of high-profile departures from Ubisoft in recent years. The company has faced criticism for its treatment of employees and its handling of high-profile game releases.
