Epic has spent the past few years trying as hard as it can to will the Fortnite metaverse into being--and now, at the end of 2025, it's actually starting to look like it's getting there. Things are still very messy, but Epic's moves in that direction--which frequently seem to involve trying random things just to see what happens--may have finally borne fruit.

Back at the end of 2023, Fortnite attempted to usher in its metaverse in earnest by launching Fortnite Festival, Rocket Racing, and Lego Fortnite. These events were meant to be the first steps towards creating a fully-fledged metaverse, but they were met with lukewarm reception from players.

However, it seems that Epic has learned from its mistakes and is now taking a more gradual approach. The company has been slowly introducing new features and updates to the game, and it's starting to pay off. Players are now able to explore a more immersive and interactive world, and the game's community is starting to come together.

But despite the progress that's been made, things are still very messy. The metaverse is still in its early stages, and there are many kinks that need to be worked out. Epic is going to have to continue to iterate and improve the game if it wants to create a truly immersive and engaging experience for players.
