Magic: The Gathering's new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set has been making waves in the gaming community, and one of the most interesting aspects of the set is a deep cut reference to the 1996 anime Mutant Turtles: Superman Legend.

The reference is found in a variant of Leonardo, Cutting Edge, which makes him look like a buff superhero. This is not the first time Magic: The Gathering has referenced anime or manga in their sets, but it is certainly one of the most notable.

The Mutant Turtles: Superman Legend anime is a lesser-known entry in the TMNT franchise, but it has a dedicated fan base. The anime was produced by Studio Pierrot and was only released in Japan.

The reference to the anime is a nod to the fans of the series and shows that Magic: The Gathering is willing to take risks and include references that may not be well-known to a wider audience.

The TMNT set is available now, and fans of the series are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get their hands on the new cards.
