Meta has forged agreements with three nuclear power providers in an effort to secure the vast amount of electricity it needs to power AI data centers. The agreements with TerraPower (which is backed by Bill Gates), Oklo (backed by Sam Altman), and Vistra are expected to deliver 6.6 gigawatts of energy for Meta's projects by [2026].

Meta's move into nuclear power is a significant step in its efforts to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and transition to cleaner energy sources. The company has been investing heavily in renewable energy and has set a goal of powering 100% of its operations with clean energy by 2030.

The agreements with TerraPower, Oklo, and Vistra are expected to play a major role in helping Meta achieve this goal. TerraPower, in particular, has been a leader in the development of small modular nuclear reactors, which are designed to be more efficient and safer than traditional nuclear reactors.

The agreements are also expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the regions where the nuclear power plants will be built. Meta has committed to working with local communities to ensure that the projects are developed in a responsible and sustainable manner.

The move into nuclear power is just the latest example of Meta's commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental impact. The company has also been investing in other clean energy technologies, such as solar and wind power, and has set a goal of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030.
