Taara Beam, a light-based internet provider spun out of Alphabet's 'moonshot' incubator, has launched a new technology that provides 25Gbps connectivity within cities over invisible beams of light. This technology, called Taara Beam, is a significant improvement over the company's previous product, Taara Lightbridge, which connected communities separated by water and mountains at distances up to 20km.

How Taara Beam Works

Taara Beam uses a combination of laser and fiber-optic technology to transmit data over long distances. The system consists of a transmitter that converts digital data into a light signal, which is then transmitted through the air to a receiver. The receiver converts the light signal back into digital data, allowing users to access high-speed internet.

Advantages of Taara Beam

Taara Beam has several advantages over traditional fiber-optic internet. It is faster, with speeds of up to 25Gbps, and can be deployed more quickly and at a lower cost. Additionally, Taara Beam is more resilient to outages and can be easily upgraded or expanded as needed.

Future Plans

Taara Beam plans to expand its service to more cities and countries in the coming months. The company is also working on developing new technologies that will allow it to provide even faster and more reliable internet services.
